The bank code BLZ or Bankleitzahl is a 8 digits long code which uniquely identify the banks, financial Institutions and their branches accross Germany.
BIC or swift code are the bank identifier codes accross the globe but BLZ code are used in Germany for local banks, institutions and their branch identifiers
German IBAN number consists of 22 characters. The first two characters are DE for country code then followed by a two charcters check digit, next is the national account number BBAN (basic bank account number), which is made up of the eight characters bank sort code and the remaining ten characters are of account number.
BLZ sort Code, or Bankleitzahl, is a 8 digit code used for money transactions with domestic banks in Germany, for international transactions BLZ code is integrated with swift codes and Account Number. The code is used as branch identifier for financial organizations or banks in Germany.
